In Animal Farm, Boxer is what type of animal?

Boxer is a horse. He’s portrayed as a strong, steady cart-horse who does the farm’s hard labor, pulling plows and carts and working from dawn to dusk. His famous refrain, “I will work harder,” shows his tireless loyalty and trust in the pigs’ leadership, making him a symbol of the diligent, exploited working class in the story. The other animals have different roles—pigs are the organizers and leaders, dogs serve as enforcers, and sheep are the common followers—so Boxer's nature and duties fit the horse, not the other animals.
